JOB SUMMARY

 
Supports the execution of Whirley Industries, Inc. business strategies and achievement of company objectives by providing professional Human Resources services with the primary focus on the entry level nonexempt work force, including: coordinating internal and external staffing processes for Warren facilities, providing administrative support and, administering various Employee Relations programs. 
 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

 
Staffing responsible for ensuring that hourly position vacancies are staffed on a timely basis with well-qualified candidates (internal and external) capable of consistently high performance in meeting their position responsibilities. Duties may include:
  • conducting recruitment effort for nonexempt, seasonal and temporary personnel; 
  • coordinating administration of internal job posting procedure, including test administration, selection interviewing, and working with Compensation and Benefits Supervisor to develop job offers;
  • coordinating external recruiting and selection procedures involving sourcing candidates (schools and agencies), developing and placing employment ads, screening applications, scheduling interviews, administering pre-employment tests; conducting reference checks, and, facilitating final selection decisions;
  • coordinating the use of contract personnel through Temporary Service agencies;
 
Administrative - responsible for preparing memos, letters, reports, presentations, and other documents for department staff as needed using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes, and other software. Maintains all departmental records according to accepted standards for timeliness, completeness, orderliness, and in compliance with company and legal requirements, including retention.  Performs a variety of tasks as a member of the HR Team responsible for planning and coordinating major company recognition events and TeamMate participation in health and family activities. Duties may include:
  • Developing spreadsheets for aid in record keeping and analyzing various department functions
  • Maintaining the department’s tickle file by pulling items on a weekly basis and distributing to appropriate staff member
  • Maintaining both current and terminated TeamMate filing systems including private, medical, managers and subject files
  • Processing and filing I-9 forms, training files, active and termed TeamMate personnel files
  • Maintaining DocBase for departmental work instructions, procedures and HR policies
  • Reconciling company credit card activity for department
 
Employee Relations - responsible for assisting the HR Director with administrative support for Employee Relations programs and procedures to develop a positive work environment in which TeamMates can work collectively to achieve high performance in productivity and creativity. Duties may include:
  • Assisting HR Director and HR Representative in investigation and resolution of situations involving unacceptable job performance and behaviors, and violation of company policies and standards of conduct,
  • Facilitating 30-6-0-90 Day Reviews with new hires and TeamMates who have accepted new positions
 
HR Core Responsibilities – responsible for assisting the HR Director in a variety of tasks related to staffing, training, and TeamMate relations core responsibilities and competitive objectives. Duties may include:
  • Coordinating administration of bi-annual TeamMate Engagement survey, including summarizing results
  • Producing communication material for Imprints, News Flush, bulletin boards, etc.
  • Assisting with orientations for new TeamMates
  • Planning and coordinating company-sponsored event(s) such as July 4th parade float, family bowling day, Easter egg hunt, softball tournament, etc.
  • Administering and scoring skill, aptitude, and other employment tests and assessments
