JOB SUMMARY

Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of products, molds and equipment to support the company objectives and strategies and meet or exceed internal and regulatory Quality Standards.

 

Core Responsibilities

 

Product DesignResponsible for developing a product and mold pipeline by utilizing CAD software to design products that are profitable and meet internal and regulatory Quality Standards. Duties may include:

* In cooperation with the Industrial Designers work to create a Toolbox/library of commonly used Part Design Features that can easily be inserted into new projects to reduce design time.

* Design new products under the direction of the Engineering Manager, Industrial Designers and NPD (New Product Development) Project Managers; provides PMs with product information, engineering drawings and rendered pictures for Art Cards as needed.

* Attending and actively participating in Safety Talks and Mold Design Review Meetings for products you design.

FMEAParticipates in design and processing/manufacturing FMEAs (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) of new product designs to detect and prevent failure modes by identifying critical or significant design and process characteristics that require special controls. Duties may include:

* Participating in a systematic team driven approach that identifies potential failure modes in a system, product, or manufacturing/assembly operation caused by either design or manufacturing/assembly process deficiencies; recommends and/or designs effective engineering changes to control failure modes.

 

 

Qualifications

6-12 Months experience in the plastic injection or blow molding product development and mold/tooling design field is required. This position requires a professional technical understanding of the plastic injection molding and/or blow molding design and process, and related manufacturing methods, machining procedures, and quality assurance standards. Project management skills are needed. This position demands a high degree of creativity. Fluency in CAD (preferred SolidWorks or AutoCAD) and engineering and drafting principles (orthographic projections and 3D geometry creation and manipulation) is required. Requires the use of mathematical calculations (algebra, trig and geometry) and research involving precedents, manufacturers' catalogs, and technical guides. Must be able to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision, to plan systematically and use logical and sound-judgment, and to bring projects to successful conclusion.
