Description

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the installation of new and used equipment, enhancements to existing equipment, the design and development of new systems, and the repair of existing equipment both electrical and mechanical.
 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 
1.  Maintenance:   Troubleshoots and repairs malfunctioning equipment and systems, both electrical and mechanical. 
 
Representative duties include:
  • Maintains good communications with Maintenance Supervisor, and Team Foreman.
  • Must be able to fluently operate presses, robots and auxiliary equipment.
  • Trouble shoots and diagnoses malfunctioning equipment throughout the department, by observing the operation of the equipment.  Brainstorms with other maintenance personnel, contacts outside technical support as needed.
  • Restores damaged or malfunctioning equipment to operation by repairing, replacing and or adjusting electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Assists mold maintenance personnel with the general repair of Mold Department equipment. 
  • Programs automated machinery, when needed uses a laptop to reload programs into equipment.
  • Establishes an inventory of common wear electrical parts, ensures that the level of inventory is sufficient for operating needs.  Does the research needed to ensure that the price we pay is fair.
  • Responsible for the department’s monthly crane inspections.
 
To be measured by:
  • Effectiveness of problem-resolution activities as it pertains to the repair and development of mold department equipment.
  • Evidence of maintenance records (MTR’s).
  • On time production measured by the % of orders where manufacturing is completed on time using the mold schedule complete by date as the baseline.
  • Care and safekeeping of company equipment and tools.
  • Communications with Maintenance Supervisor on items that impact productivity and efficiency.
 
2.  Project Management:  Responsible for the installation of new and used equipment, enhancements to existing equipment, and the design and development of new systems.
 
Representative duties include:
  • Maintains an ongoing list of projects with timeline goals and objectives to be addressed and completed.
  • Must be well organized, able to manage and implement projects.
  • Enhances equipment performance by developing and installing modifications.
  • Designs and develops auxiliary equipment.Responsible for the programming used in this equipment.
  • Establishes operating procedures, and training programs for newly designed auxiliary equipment.
  • Layout and install wiring for new and used equipment.
  • Follows the manufacturer’s instructions, contacts technical support when necessary.
  • Evaluates the operation of new and used equipment, qualifies the equipment prior to bringing it on line.
  • Coordinates the purchase of supplies.
 
To be measured by:
  • Ability to plan the work, communicate requirements, answer questions, guide and train department TeamMates in the operation of new systems.
  • Effectiveness of problem-resolution activities as pertains to the operation of new equipment and systems.
  • Communications with Maintenance Supervisor on items impacting timeline of project.
  • Written evidence of TeamMate training sessions with dated & signed training logs.
 
3.  Productivity / EfficiencyAnalyzes work load and requirements, sets personal priorities bases on these work requirements, Performs all tasks in a productive and efficient manner.
 
Representative duties include:
  • Controls down time by scheduling repairs with the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Prioritizes workload based on the information received, repairs equipment accordingly.
  • Follows a disciplined approach to all maintenance activities, allowing for the flexibility needed to maintain our production requirements.
  • Ensures the work is completed with technical excellence, and in an efficient and cost-effective fashion.
  • Completes the documentation and paper work associated with maintenance activities.
  • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
 
To be measured by:
  • Proper completion of all paper work.
  • Attention to detail as it relates to repairs.
  • Timeliness in how tasks are completed.
 
4.  Safety Housekeeping:  Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy work environment.  Ensures maintenance operations are performed with the utmost regard for the safety and health of all department personnel.
 
Representative duties include:
  • Follows all policies, safety regulations, establishing good housekeeping practices.
  • Ensures that all equipment utilized in the plant is free of recognized hazards. 
  • Operates all equipment in accordance with manufacture’s recommendations.
  • Ensures worksite safety and cleanup and adherence to safety codes.
  • Assures tools and other equipment are stored properly.
  • Maintains high level of communication with Maintenance Supervisor and other appropriate personnel.  Advises and cautions TeamMates about potential problems and dangers.
  • Implements changes that will reduce safety hazards.
  • Makes housekeeping a day-to-day practice, follows the guidelines for “Manufacturers of Food Packaging” (ASI).
  • Ensures worksite safety and cleanup and adherence to safety codes.
  • Assures tools and other equipment are stored properly. 
 
To be measured by:
  • Number of unsafe acts and unsafe conditions related to maintenance.
  • Number of findings reported on monthly ASI / safety inspections related to maintenance.
 
5.  Other:
 
 Representative duties include:
  • Organizes monitors and maintains, repair parts inventory, informs the Maintenance Supervisor of the need to order parts.
  • Responsible for the implementation of good ideas that require fabrication or modifications to the equipment.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, stays current with the latest technology, regulations and standards for the electrical trade, such as the National Electrical Code, as well as any other authority, National, State or Local.
  • Wears the proper safety apparel for the above listed activities, including safety glasses, face shield, steel-toe shoes and proper hearing protection when required.
  • Must be available to work overtime in emergency and special situations at the request of management.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Performs all duties in an independent manner with little or no supervision.  Recognizes and performs duties which need to be performed although not directly assigned and assists others as needed.
  • Takes ownership of or actively participates in other projects and key initiatives as assigned or requested.
  • Operates machinery that aids in the implementation of the work.  Such equipment includes, but is not limited to scissor lifts, articulating booms, vertical man lifts, forklifts, and hydraulic benders.
  • Must be available to work overtime in emergency or special situations at the request of the Maintenance Supervisor – Mold, or the Mold Department Manager.  On call 24/7.
