Description

JOB SUMMARY

The NPD Concept Artist is responsible for transforming information and data obtained through creative briefs/new product requests into manufacturable, saleable, compelling new product concepts in the form of sketches, drawings, and/or enhanced engineering images.  NPD Concept Artist is also responsible for collaborating with various sales channel managers to create compelling creative art for current product line.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

 
  1. New Product Concept Development:  Responsible for creating new product concepts based on new product requests (NPRs) as well as input from Creative Director and Program Managers.
 
Representative duties include:
 
  • Ensuring the information contained in assigned NPR’s is correct by communicating with customers, sales representatives and program managers.
 
  • Transforming that information into compelling concept sketches using either manual or digital drawing skills.
 
  • Collaborating with engineers to ensure that profitable manufacturing and assembly factors are integrated into the concept designs.
 
  • Developing refined creative concept images which may include enhanced manual or digital drawings and/or enhanced engineering images.
 
  • Ensuring that artistic and design engineering standards are met by performing quality standards review with the NPD Creative Director.
 
  • Delivering refined creative concepts to the appropriate sales representative and program manager. Serves as point of contact for the customer or sales rep. for questions or issues regarding the concept images until final customer approval is obtained.
 
  1. Creative Art Development:  Responsible for creating compelling product art for various sales channels
through the use of computers and artistic software.
 
Representative duties include:
 
  • Communicating with customers, EF Channel Manager and Souvenir Channel Manager to understand theme and direction art designs should take.
 
  • Transforming that information into multiple pieces of compelling artwork using digital drawing skills and programs.
 
  • Working with customers continually throughout the process to revise and refine into finished piece approved by customer.
 
  • Ensuring the artwork is correctly set-up for whichever printing method is being used (Offset, Pad Print, Silkscreen, Heat Transfer, Label)
 
  • Ensuring art is correctly colored and all wording is correct.  Sends art to Art Director for final review.
 
  • Working with Art Director and Pre-Press Manager if printing problems arise to ensure quality print job is attained.
 
 

 
Qualifications
 
Graphic arts training with associate or bachelor’s degree preferred or 2-3 years of related experience.  Good conceptualization and manual drawing skills.  Good color discrimination and design layout skills.  Demonstrated computer competency with Macintosh computers and high level knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop graphic software applications.
