JOB SUMMARY

The SQF Practitioner is responsible for ensuring product/process conformity in accordance with Safe Quality Food (SQF), customer specific requirements, and Whirley Industries quality principles. The SQF practitioner leads the SQF system and is responsible to verify, confirm, and correct the systems to ensure Whirley Industries in compliant with SQF polices, procedures, and programs. The supervision of the Sanitation team supports the conformance to the SQF standards.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervision – responsible for ensuring the Sanitation TeamMates have a clear understanding of department goals, objectives, and individual responsibilities and they have the necessary knowledge, skills, and tools to achieve or exceed expected results.

  • Assigning & monitoring work including audits of TeamMates on off shifts & weekends.
  • Managing and evaluating performance of TeamMates for annual reviews.
  • Establishing and maintaining a positive, team-based work environment through monthly sanitation meetings.
  • Identifying training and development needs and addressing them through appropriate education and training.
  • Coaching, counseling, and resolving conflicts between TeamMates.
  • Ensuring compliance with all company procedures.
  • Continuous improvement driven thru Kaizen, EHS, Good Ideas, Kanban etc.
  • Budgeting and management of sanitation related inventory & distribution of supplies.

SQF Compliance – responsible for the development, implementation & maintenance of Food Safety Fundamentals & systems to ensure customer requirements are met.

  • Generating, documenting, and maintaining records, forms, and reports that provide evidence for SQF compliance.
  • Development and maintenance of the HACCP Plan (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point).
  • Developing and delivering HACCP and annual SQF refresher training to all TeamMates.

Audits – responsible for conducting audits for the SQF system, the quality system and manufacturing processes. Verifies, confirms, and corrects the systems to meet SQF standards.

  • Completing audits and qualifications of new products & equipment including changes that may affect food safety.
  • Monthly audits, document findings and monitoring the closure of the findings in a timely manner for all buildings.
  • Daily confirmation that preoperational audits are being performed, reviewed and completed. Any findings documented are confirmed to be addressed. Then archived.
  • Leading & confirming the completion of the annual SQF requirements. (Reference SQF Audit Evidence list: Mock Recall, Air Purity & Micro testing, Glass Registry, Annual Crisis Mgt Review, Food Fraud Risk Assessment Food Defense System Challenge, Monthly Site Management Review Meeting, Annual City Water Test, Annual Building Environmental & Risk Assessment, etc.)
  • Conducting HACCP audits to evaluate any new critical control points in our process.
  • Leading formal corrective actions to be submitted in response to 3rd party SQF audits. Provide the responses in SQF system, submit, and confirm completion to receive SQF Certificate annually.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree & SQF Practitioner experience is preferred.
  • Supervision experience is required.
  • SQF certified or received certification within 3 months in position.
  • HACCP certified or received certification within 3 months in position.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
  • Knowledge in IQMS & ADP preferred.
  • Ability to learn new software, use tablets, and other technology-based systems required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of standing or sitting.
