JOB SUMMARY

Operates and trains a variety of machines used to assemble product component parts or prepare products for shipment. Operates various production machines as needs dictate, heat transfer and pad print equipment. Responsible for various parts of the training process for new TeamMates.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Production

  • Performs training program for new TeamMates. This includes training and observation of trainees with respect to their performance against established training objectives and recommendation of additional skill requirements as training needed.
  • Responsible for updating the Decoration and Assembly Team Leader on the progression of the trainee. Trainers will give feedback through the 30, 60, 90 process.
  • Assist in developing general training instructions, work instructions, checklist, and visual aids.
  • Follow up on a regular, planned schedule to answer questions and verify proficiency. Maintaining files of training materials and organized log(s) of all training conducted.
  • During non-training or non-production periods, the trainer may be called upon to perform in their capacities such as: working on problem solving, continuous improvement or safety programs; cross training of operators; assist in general housekeeping activities.
  • During non-training periods may function as a back-up to Production Assistants.
  • Attend required trainer courses/seminars.
  • Notify designated personnel of any irregularities in materials, process, or equipment.
  • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of assigned area(s) and always observe company policies.
  • Follows up with new TeamMates concerning their performance.
  • Able to operate all machines on the training matrix.

Quality

  • Ensure products and components are packed in boxes correctly by referring to the Bill of Material (BOM) listed on the work order.
  • Visually checks products for imperfections, i.e., oil marks, welds, color, flashing, short-shots, scuffs. Performs quality checks at designated quantities. Reports all quality and machine malfunctions to Decoration and Assembly Team Leader / Assembly Team Leader / Production Assistant. All print-related quality issues should be reported to the Decoration Team Leader.
  • Accurately enters data in computer regarding numbers of product being processed and rejects.
  • Ensures correct components are used by checking the proper work order and comparing to the component being used. Informs Decoration and Assembly Team Leader or Decoration Team Leader if there are errors in the information supplied to the workstation.

Safety

  • Responsible for safe operation of equipment.
  • Identifies any unsafe, or potentially unsafe, conditions with equipment and reports them immediately to Decoration and Assembly Team Leader or Production Assistant.
  • Cleans and performs minor maintenance on machine. Responsible for care and safekeeping of equipment.
  • Wear proper PPE when cleaning and setting up equipment.
  • Places refuse and reject material in proper containers.
  • Ergonomically adjust workstation to individual comfort level.

GENERAL CONDUCT

  • Maintains respectful working relationship with TeamMates, Decoration and Assembly Team Leaders, Decoration Team Leaders, Production Assistants to promote teamwork and a positive work environment.
  • Committed to continual Improvement to raise personal performance to meet and exceeds the standard and to develop new methods to eliminate wastes, improve productivity and reduce customer complaints.
  • Maintains excellent attendance as defined in the company’s Attendance Policy.
  • Seeks other tasks during downtime and printing machine changeovers, i.e., assisting co-workers when assigned with their duties if they are behind, cleaning machines and work area.
  • Supports and complies with all company policies and procedures, including safety and quality.
  • Submits new ideas to improve safety, quality and procedural operations that will benefit the company.
  • Actively participates in departmental meetings by providing suggestions for improvement, problem solving and offering feedback.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to verbally communicate with supervision.
  • Must be capable of learning multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work with little supervision.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting ability / mechanical aptitude.
  • Good manual dexterity and color discrimination.
