JOB TITLE: Parcel Shipping Clerk

JOB SUMMARY

Ships products and other component materials via United Parcel Service (UPS), Fed Ex Ground and Federal Express. May use other carriers of similar nature. Assists in the receiving of merchandise and supplies shipped to Whirley Industries.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Parcel Shipments

  • Ships orders to customers via UPS or FedEx. Follow specific instructions on Pick Ticket or as advised by supervisor or Sales Department.
  • Prepare orders for shipping. Prepares shipping labels, packing slips and other documents as needed.
  • Monitors usage of all UPS, Fed Ex computers; calls tech line for assistance when problems arise.
  • Maintains a high level of communication with Sales Department, warehouse personnel and carrier personnel.
  • Inventories and monitors all shipping supplies.
  • Maintains manual and computer records of transactions.

Supply Chain

  • Create LTL BOLs from IQMS Pack Slips.
  • Assist in the Load Verification process as needed.
  • Assists with LTL and Broker shipments.
  • Assists with Sample Room requests for FG.
  • Backup Logistics Customer Service Rep.
  • Primary point of contact for VaildFill shipments/returns.
  • Sets up trade show shipments and returns.
  • Assists Purchasing with RMA shipments.

Inventory Control

  • Responsible for processing inventory moves, adjustments and transactions with a high level of accuracy.
  • Operates radio frequency (RF) scans to maintain accurate inventory levels and storage locations.
  • Performs cycle counts as required.
  • Performs reconciliation of FG locations as needed.

Safety, Housekeeping and SQF

  • Operates powered industrial trucks, (reach trucks, sit downs, and order picker) to move materials to and from locations.
    • Completes a forklift checklist prior to operation.
    • Reports all problems to supervisor for MRO submission.
    • Adheres to traffic safety program.
  • Safeguards shipping operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols. Enforces outside driver safety policies.
  • Ensure that all operations are performed with the utmost regard for the safety and health of all personnel involved.
  • Makes housekeeping a day-to-day practice by ensuring that the guidelines for SQF are followed as a matter of routine. Internal inspections should result in a few, if any, corrective actions. Corrective actions must be addressed in a timely fashion and not repeat in subsequent Whirley inspections.
  • Restacks leaning boxes and replace damaged boxes or pallets.

QUALIFICATIONS

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated clerical, math and computer operation skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Prolonged sitting and standing.
  • Lifting and/or moving of 45lbs.
  • Forklift operation

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Driving records for TeamMates holding positions requiring the operation of powered industrial trucks will be subject to periodic review from a third party. Failure to maintain an acceptable driving record could result in job loss or reassignment.

Drivers with unacceptable driving records would include those with one or more of the following violations:

  • Conviction for an alcohol and/or drug related driving offense
  • Refusal to submit to a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) test.
  • Conviction for reckless driving
  • Any combination of 3 or more moving violations, “at fault accidents”, or “preventable accidents” within the most recent 3 years
  • Suspension, revocation, or administrative restriction within the last 3 years
  • Leaving the scene of an accident as defined by State laws.
  • At fault in a fatal accident
  • Felony committed involving a vehicle.
  • Three or more “Company vehicle” physical damage claims in any 12-month period
