JOB SUMMARY
A Molding Team Leader assists the Shift Manager daily and fills in for their absences as needed. They oversee the daily Molding activities and help TeamMates perform their jobs during their shift. They must effectively communicate, lead others, and have strong organizational and motivational skills. Along with overseeing training on the Molding team, they also perform similar tasks as the TeamMate’s they oversee.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Schedules/ conducts and documents training on the Molding Team.
- Participates in writing Standard Work Instructions for jobs being performed on the floor.
- Performing color/ work order changes as needed as well as machine adjustments when required.
- Acting as the Backup to other positions on the team.
- Following all company policies and safety procedures.
- Making sure that production needs are met and focusing on availability, performance, and quality, OEE as a measure.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
On a daily basis, you will assist the Shift Manager with all aspects of team operations. You will monitor and direct TeamMates during your shift to make sure that they complete their tasks and are motivated to work effectively. You will also act as a reference point for TeamMates and remain ready to fix problems that occasionally arise. You need to be flexible and be able to perform all the positions on the team as a backup. You will assume the Shift Manager responsibilities during his or her absence.
- Ensure Company Safety Procedures and regulations are followed.
- Responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment with zero workplace incidents due to unsafe acts and unsafe conditions, with no lost time incidents. Assists the Shift Manager by completing weekly EHS audits, monthly Safety Talks, Red Alerts, Near Miss and Incident investigation reports as needed in their absence or by request.
- Exhibits knowledge of proper handling of equipment and Safety Procedures.
- Adheres to and enforces all Company policies and guidelines.
- Makes housekeeping a day-to-day practice by ensuring that the SQF guidelines are followed as a matter of routine. Internal inspections should result in few, if any, corrective actions. Corrective actions must be addressed in a timely fashion and not repeated in subsequent Whirley inspections.
- Assist in managing daily schedules and time-off requests. Relay information to the Shift Manager so ADP can be updated.
- Help assign duties to TeamMates and oversee their progress.
- Train new hires and Associates using the provided training tools and ensure training is documented properly. Participate in the 30-60-90-day meetings with the Shift Manager. Conducts/ organizes training for all TeamMates on the shift.
- Develops and participates in the development of Standard Work Instructions for the jobs being performed on the floor.
- Performs color/ work order changes as needed. Also makes adjustments to machine processes when needed.
- Performs Packer duties as needed.
- Monitor scrap and downtime daily to help department meet OEE goals.
- Responsible for ensuring the quality of products produced and instilling a zero defects mind set.
- Demonstrates ability to think creatively and innovatively to devise new production strategies.
- Transfer products and other objects to and from the work centers/ warehouse areas on occasion.
- Can respond quickly and calmly to emergency situations.
- Communicates clearly and effectively with all TeamMates and Departments.
- Fills in for the Shift Manager and attends meetings as needed. Kaizen, CI, Shift Manager, etc…
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, attending internal company trainings and meetings.
- Other duties, as requested.

REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Full understanding of Company Safety Standards.
- Comprehensive knowledge of basic software, such as Word and Excel as well as demonstrated mechanical ability.
- Working well within a team.
- Ability to multitask with little supervision.
- Leadership and conflict-management skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Previous experience as a Shift Manager or similar role.
- High School Diploma
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- The ability to meet the physical demands of the job, such as standing up for long hours and lifting heavy loads occasionally.
- Must wear Steel Toed boots
