JOB SUMMARY

Provides support to the Decoration and Assembly (D&A) Team Leader with Assemblers I’s, providing training and all other performance support including compliance with all company policies. Assist D&A Team Leader on properly executing all processes, procedures and tests to quality standards and customers’ expectations. Assists D&A Team Leader with proper setup of assembly lines (ergonomically & safe), correct staffing and the expected level of throughput is met according to the production schedule. Maintains a safe and healthy work environment including ensuring zero workplace incidents by avoiding unsafe acts and conditions.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist D&A Team Leader with their responsibilities on goals and objectives and ensure Assemblers I’s have access to tools, knowledge, and necessary work environment to be successful with their responsibilities.

Supervision:

Responsible for supervising the performance of a subset of Assembler I’s to ensure that team goals and objectives are achieved by ensuring TeamMate core responsibilities and performance expectations are well defined, TeamMates have a clear understanding of department goals and objectives, TeamMates have the necessary skills, tools, and materials to do their job, and the general working climate facilitates the successful performance of their job responsibilities. Duties may include:

  • Overseeing all aspects of assembly activities such as job assignments, quality, inventory, and safety.
  • Schedules daily assignments by using the Production Schedule Summary (PSS), and information relayed by previous shift. Assigns production jobs to be completed as efficiently as possible by scheduling trained TeamMates on available machines as needed to produce orders in a timely fashion.
  • Monitoring the work to ensure it is completed in an efficient and cost-effective fashion.
  • Verifying that documentation associated with production has been completed.
  • Enforcing all company policies and procedures
  • Authorizing and scheduling TeamMate vacation consistent with the needs of the department/company
  • Accurately recording TeamMate time and attendance information in ADP.
  • Ensuring functional activities are managed safely, efficiently, productively and in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Respecting the confidentiality of company, customer, and personnel information.
  • Maintaining TeamMate job performance by coaching, counseling, disciplining, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Maintaining a high level of communication to ensure good relations with TeamMates and maintaining positive morale.
  • Maintaining a positive attitude and cooperative working relationship with TeamMates throughout the company.
  • Communicating all disciplinary needs and documentation to the D&A Team Leader.

Production / Productivity:

Guide and direct the activities of the Assemblers I’s to effectively execute the production schedule while achieving established goals for productivity, efficiency, quality, and on-time delivery. Duties may include:

  • Staffing lines according to the number of TeamMates needed.
  • Ensuring parts are being assembled and packed according to specifications and instructions.
  • Adjusting personnel and machine work assignments as conditions warrant, assigning TeamMates alternate work during machine downtime.
  • Communicating with the previous shift Team Leaders, with a goal to understand the problems and situations that might be seen throughout the shift.
  • Investigating production problems, with a goal to minimize down time and maximize the production of good quality parts.
  • Ensuring that all equipment is running as efficiently as possible. Documenting non-conforming conditions with machines on a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) work order. Maintains effective intra-and inter-departmental communications.
  • Monitoring computer entries, and reviewing Work Orders for accuracy and completeness.

Quality:

Ensures strict adherence to all quality procedures and standards. Duties may include:

  • Performing daily audits to ensure all necessary quality tests/inspections are being completed correctly.
  • Cooperating with the Quality Department; enforcing and adhering to all quality procedures.
  • Qualifying TeamMates for regular production work by verifying they understand and are capable of completing quality tasks.
  • Performing random quality checks.
  • Documenting non-conforming conditions by initiating the Material Review Board (MRB) process.
  • Analyzing and adjusting equipment as needed to verify that production meets quality specifications.
  • Cooperating in the investigation of customer complaints so that root causes can be determined and eliminated.
  • Verifying the accuracy of all computer entries.
  • Providing annual training of quality procedures.

Safety and Housekeeping:

Responsible for assisting the D&A Team Leader in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment with zero workplace incidents due to unsafe acts and unsafe conditions. Duties may include:

  • Enforcing safety policies and regulations
  • Assisting the D&A Team Leader in investigating TeamMate incidents and near misses; unsafe acts are discussed promptly with appropriate discipline issued; necessary paperwork is completed.
  • Advising and cautioning TeamMates about potential problems and dangers; implementing changes that reduce/eliminate safety hazards.
  • Ensuring that all equipment utilized in the Plant is free of recognized hazards.
  • Ensuring that the equipment is operated in accordance with manufacture’s recommendations, and all TeamMates have been trained in the safe and proper use of the equipment.
  • Addressing corrective actions in a timely fashion and ensuring that issues are not repeated in subsequent monthly inspections.
  • Making housekeeping a day-to-day practice by ensuring that Safe Quality Food (SQF)guidelines are followed as a matter of routine.
  • Ensuring that tools and other equipment are stored properly.

Training:

Assists the D&A Team Leader in ensuring that TeamMates have been trained in all tasks relevant to the performance of their job.

  • Ensuring that TeamMates have been trained/retrained, developed, and involved in quality activities for all tasks relevant to performing their job.
  • Coordinating training/remedial training of quality and operational procedures with trainers for new TeamMates.
  • Communicating new procedures and policies to TeamMates.
  • Staffing all positions with trained back-ups.
  • Ensuring that procedures and work instructions are accurate and up to date.
  • Retraining TeamMates as needed, with a goal to improve TeamMate skills.

Other Duties:

  • Must be willing to work overtime when necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Submits new ideas to improve Safety, Quality and procedural operations that will benefit the Company.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three or more years’ experience preferred in a cellular or process flow production environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Understanding of basic quality tools
  • Good manual dexterity and color discrimination.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written skills and leadership qualities including interpersonal and problem solving.
  • Stays informed on quality news and industry trends.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lifting of 50lbs. Maximum.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying up to 25lbs.
  • Prolonged walking or standing on a hard surface.
  • Bending, squatting, climbing ladders, kneeling, reaching above shoulders, pushing, and pulling.
