JOB SUMMARY: Performs general maintenance or repair tasks for buildings and grounds maintenance such as mechanical, electrical, carpentry, plumbing systems, grounds keeping, snow removal.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs painting and prepares work area for the application of such coatings as to provide the safe, effective, and efficient cleanup related to an assigned project.
- Performs a variety of lawn care tasks, including mowing, edging, weed trimming, raking and debris removal.
- Sweeps floors in all production and warehouse areas to pick up major debris such as wood – stretch wrap – and other foreign matter to prep floors for the floor scrubber.
- Runs and maintains floor scrubber as per the floor scrubber schedule – scrubber to be ran in all production and warehouse areas daily/weekly as scheduled.
- Performs snow-removal activities such as snow-blowing, plowing with the pickup truck, salting, and spreading anti-skid on roadways and sidewalks by hand – truck or tractor, removing snow piles by utilizing a tractor.
- Clean outside lights of cobwebs and debris.
- Clean outside security cameras of cobwebs and debris.
- Cleans and details all company cars and trucks (not including forklifts) on a regular basis as assigned.
- Cleans walls and ceiling in production and warehouse areas assigned to meet SQF standards.
- Maintains the order within the Building Maintenance sheds and with the equipment and supplies stored within them to be organized and safe.
- Performs a variety of preventative maintenance tasks (PM’s) as instructed by the PM forms and visual observations made at the time of inspections.
- Documents findings and reports critical findings to the Facilities Manager immediately.
- Assists in the construction or assembly of equipment or structures relating to the building trade and as instructed by the Facilities Manager or a technician assigned to oversee the work.
- Uses trade-related tools such as hand and power-operated tools, i.e., pneumatic, gasoline or electric and fixed, powered equipment.
- Assists technicians with the installation and/or maintenance of HVAC equipment via the tradesman’s instructions. Performs routine maintenance on HVAC equipment including the removal of window units; cleaning coils with the appropriate cleaners; rinsing and reinstalling per manufacturer’s instructions.
- Wear proper safety apparel which includes long pants and short sleeves while operating equipment; safety glasses; face shield; respirator; steel-toe shoes; hearing protection, when required.
- Run errands for materials, equipment or supplies as requested by the Facilities Manager or as required by the task assigned.
- Operates machinery that aids in the implementation of the work. Such equipment includes, but is not limited to scissor lifts, articulating booms, vertical manlifts, hydraulic benders, confined space-related equipment, tractors with mowing decks or bucket loaders. All equipment will be operated in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations, documented training and any applicable law governing agencies.
- Completes departmental paperwork accurately daily. Returns the paperwork to an appropriate location for easy retrieval by those administering the information.
- Portrays “serve the customer” attitude while working within other departments and while communicating with those who may request work to be performed.
- Cleans and stores all equipment used in the application of a task in such a manner that equipment can be reused for future projects by cleaning with the appropriate solvents or water-based cleaners.
- Must meet the Efficiency and Productivity level set for the department as well as the Company’s needs to meet the customers’ request.
- Must be available to work overtime in emergencies or special situations at the request of management. Participate in the coverage of the company/department cell phone for emergency call-ins.
- Performs all other related duties assigned in a craftsman-like manner.
- Supports, enforces, and complies with all Company policies and procedures.
- Submits new ideas to improve Safety, Quality and procedural operations that will benefit the Company.
- Submits ideas via the Kaizen Club to help improve safety – quality – cost – production – morale.
- Supports and comply with all SQF guidelines and regulations.
- Assist with Vehicle Maintenance repairs as needed or as assigned by the Maintenance Mechanic, such as but not limited to – replacing forklift roll pins – battery checks -

QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years building trades and groundskeeping experience preferred.
- Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
- Handles multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
- Must possess a valid PA driver’s license and an insurable driving record.
- Good color discrimination, manual dexterity, and eye/hand coordination
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged riding/siting, walking, carrying, and standing.
- Lifting of 45 lbs.
- Bending, crawling, crouching, climbing, stooping to reach.
- Lifting and pulling of equipment and supplies.
