JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for leading the execution of assigned Operational Excellence (OE) efforts to improve our business results in the areas of Safety, TeamMate Involvement & Engagement, Quality, Cost, and Delivery.

Assists the Operational Excellence Manager with facilitation for Workshops, Events, and programs. Primary and Active Leader for assigned Operational Excellence and other interdepartmental Projects. Works closely with internal customers / shareholders on assigned objectives. Acts as a Subject Matter Expert and trainer in lean tools, including Jidoka and JIT techniques to build quality and flow into our processes to achieve business goals.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Continuous Improvement - Manufacturing: responsible for identifying and participating in projects that lead to improvements in manufacturing performance in terms of productivity, quality, on-time delivery, and innovation through the application of performance management, problem-solving, process methodology, and training toolsets. Duties may include:
    • Actively facilitating OE Workshops covering 5S Methodology, developing TeamMates’ skills and knowledge, and auditing 5S-Certified Workshop areas
    • Facilitating Standard Work Instruction (SWI) activities and associated training programs in manufacturing departments; audits TeamMate compliance to established standards
    • Kaizen Improvement Program support and facilitation, including training and meeting facilitation
    • Actively facilitating OE Workshops covering Single-Minute Exchange of Die (SMED), Quick Changeover, or similar Set-up Reduction techniques
    • Use of Total Productive Maintenance techniques such as Critical Parts Lists and Operator Level Checks
    • Development of pull systems utilizing Kanban for inventory replenishment
    • Acting in an Operational Excellence mentor role for OE Engineers and Gemba TeamMates
    • Department Meeting presence and communication
    • And other OE or lean tools and methods that we undertake
  • Training: responsible for the development and delivery of training focused on OE concepts. Duties may include:
    • Completing a training needs analysis
    • Developing relevant training for targeted audiences.
    • Producing professional training materials
    • Presenting training to cross functional groups
    • Following up and measuring training success
  • Structured Problem-Solving: responsible for troubleshooting and problem-solving various issues in equipment and processes. Duties may include:
    • Conducts root-cause analysis for problems / issues with equipment and follows up with structured problem-solving tools (PDCA)
  • Project / Program Management: responsible for completion of major OE projects annually by delivering professional quality products that fully meet agreed upon metrics. Projects will normally be focused on manufacturing, continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, etc. Assists with administration of various Lean Manufacturing initiatives. Duties may include:
    • Leads projects by preparing project plans, identifying available resources, and collaborating to define scope, deliverables, and goals, and then follows through to completion
    • Creating documents, charts, procedures, and policies
    • Leading project teams
    • Designing and/or delivering education and training related to assigned projects such as: 5S, Kaizen, Standard Work, etc.
  • Other: related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience with Operational Excellence or Lean Manufacturing methodologies preferred.
  • Must be initiative-taking and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Attitude and Aptitude to be assessed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Lifting of up to 45 lbs.
  • Requires prolonged standing and sitting.
