POSITION SUMMARY

  • Performs a variety of duties related to validating, verifying, and approving products, materials, systems, processes directly related to product quality and performance ensuring they meet Whirley Drink-Works, regulatory & customer expectations, and requirements. Maintains a superior level of quality standards for product, process, and raw materials by creating and maintaining in-coming / in-process inspections & standard work documentation. This includes the inspection of molded parts after mold revisions, new tools, China products for acceptance, process standard changes, material changes and raw material approval testing, customer complaints, and R&D validations. This also includes maintaining a high level of communications between Quality and Manufacturing, Sales and Project Managers relating to testing results of performance & regulatory compliance, concerns, and substandard issues. To also ensure all SPC, standards, in production inspections, testing equipment and data collection systems are in place and up to date for manufacturing purposes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the validation I verification testing and reporting of those tests of I for products, materials, or processes to ensure they meet regulatory standards, customer requirements, processing standards and production requirements. Performs destructive and non-destructive testing on required products according to specifications determined by customers, regulatory agencies or Whirley DrinkWorks. Creates and modifies work instructions and test criteria to meet requirements. Collects and records testing data to be used in the validation I verification of products or processes

Representative duties include:

Performs approval, validation & verification testing

  • Inspection to be completed accurately to the standards set by Whirley DrinkWorks, Customers, Regulatory Agencies, or by the guidelines required by the sales specifications of the product.
  • Inspections / Testing Results are to be documented within the proper format / program; the completed data is to be downloaded or entered in the main data collection system. (Test Packet Program, IQMS, ARAS, Innovations Folder, G: drive, Etc.)
  • Holds scheduled meetings to review results of testing with representatives from Molding, Harmar, Quality, Project Managers, etc.
  • All testing or inspections / test standards will be documented and filed in an electronic version.
  • Completes destructive and non-destructive testing.
  • Creating test packets with the Design Verification Plan Team and determine the required testing.
  • Works closely with members of work group to maintain consistency and efficiency in testing procedures, add, delete, or modify tests when conditions warrant.
  • Ensure parts are always identified and available for review while in the lab, until the test packets are closed and stored electronically.
  • Once test standards are established, prepare products and product test packets, consults with requestor of testing to establish job priority and timetable for completion.
  • Regulatory requirements will be reviewed with the Quality Management or any specified teammate.
  • Regulatory requirements will be filed in the required program to ensure easy access and availability and reviewed with Quality Management.
  • PRR requests & CAS information to be maintained and updated in system
  • Will complete annual colorant standard reviews of Supplier vs Whirley DrinkWorks standards to ensure consistency and accuracy of standards. This includes verification of annual Supplier Stewardship document submissions to Whirley DrinkWorks for colorants, materials, and inks.
  • Participate in the quality team daily meeting providing updates on current activities and requesting support where needed, if any.
  • Inspections / Testing will include but are not limited to:
    • Visual inspections
    • Go / No Go inspections (shims - gages -etc.)
    • Inspections utilizing specific devices dictated by product or test requirements.
    • Performs inspections and cleaning of equipment and machinery used:

Organization & Additional requirements:

  • Must keep work area and lab safe, clean, and free of obstructions. Complete EHS Audits.
  • Must be able to keep / maintain legible records and documents.
  • Must keep tools and equipment utilized for testing clean and in safe working condition.
  • Must be organized and able to maintain the work area efficiently and effectively to be safe and efficient.
  • Must practice first-in-first-out sample storage, making sure older samples are discarded.
  • Must follow all PPE requirements relating to tasks being performed.
  • Perform any tasks required to ensure that the department meets its goals.
  • Suggests changes that will reduce safety hazards, scrap, lost production, etc.
  • Must be able to operate the IQMS, data collection programs, and any other computer-based program required.
  • Must support, participate, and drive TCM, (Total Cost Management).
  • Monitors manufacturing in-process inspection results to ensure customer satisfaction / expectations and safety / regulatory requirements are met.
  • Monitors and ensures all teammates follow Safety, SQF, ASI, and 5S requirements.
  • Complete MRB through IQMS and determine outcome of parts.
  • Training Responsibilities: Training of Teammates to ensure that in-process inspections and tasks required are completed properly and accurately, including teammate sign off records.
  • Maintain a product issues library outlining / describing issue conditions and acceptance levels.
  • During slow periods of testing and validation, may be required to transfer to other responsibilities within the company to maintain a consistent and efficient workload within the quality department as requested by management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school graduate/equivalent required, 2+ years College preferred
  • Computer skills
  • One to two years molding experience preferred
  • Knowledge of product colors, material, and additives preferred
  • Good physical dexterity and color discrimination
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and possess good decision-making skills
  • Must be self-motivated and possess excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks with little supervision
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Whirley DrinkWorks products preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Prolonged standing and walking on hard surfaces.
  • Bending, crouching, squatting to lift or lower workloads up to and including 45 pounds.
  • Frequent stretching above shoulder height.
