JOB TITLE: Mold Maintenance Apprentice

JOB SUMMARY
Learn and develop trade skills. Participates in the evaluation of molds and tooling to support the company objectives and strategies and meet or exceed internal and regulatory Quality Standards. As an employee-in-training, apprentices exhibit enthusiasm to learn and an interest in the job skills.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Apprenticeship – Responsible over a 2-to-4-year period to gain extensive knowledge in manual machining, precision measuring, mechanical mold systems, and mold fitting/assembly to a point they can manage their own assigned preventive maintenance and changeovers to molds.
- Complete a wide variety of on-the-job training to develop skills in all areas. Listen carefully, confirm your understanding of what you’re being requested to do, and take notes as needed.
Mold Maintenance – Responsible to change over and maintain plastic injection, reheat stretch and extrusion blow molds to ensure products meet internal and regulatory Quality Standards, and molds that promote a high level of manufacturing efficiency. Duties may include:
- Safely maintain production equipment and meet the department’s scheduled preventive maintenance obligations while assisting with configuration and set-up of production molds.
- Disassembling, assembling, inspections, and cleaning molds & mold components.
- Disassembling and repairing hot runner and hydraulic actuated molds. Complete training on electrical and hydraulic circuits using diagrams, blueprints and electrical circuit test meters and methods.
- Proper operation of overhead crane and ability to operate a forklift is required.
- Perform tool and mold maintenance and changeovers.
Machinist – Responsible for collaborating with Machine Shop Manager and Engineering staff to provide machined components to support Manufacturing and Quality. Duties may include:
- Completes training on setting up and operating manual lathes, band saws, milling machines, bend sanders, drill press, and to construct and or repair metal and / or plastic.

- Maintains respectful working relationship with TeamMates, Managers, Shift Supervisors, Foreman to promote teamwork and a positive work environment.
- Committed to Continuous Improvement to develop new methods to eliminate waste, improve productivity and reduce customer complaints.
- Maintains excellent attendance as defined in the Company’s Attendance Policy.
- Supports, enforces and complies with all company policies and procedures, including safety and quality.
- Submits Good Ideas/ Kaizens to improve Safety, Quality and procedural operations that will benefit the Company.
- Actively participates in meetings and discussions by providing suggestions for improvement, problem solving and offering feedback.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Desired knowledge basic machining and / or electrical knowledge and skills and able to read blueprints.
Physical Requirements:
- May be required to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
- May be required to engage in frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing, and pulling.
