JOB TITLE: Sanitation TeamMate

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt Hourly

JOB SUMMARY

Participates in general cleaning of offices, restrooms, and plant areas. Assures that completion of tasks meets established health and sanitation standards. Documents areas cleaned.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicates needed supply requirements to the SQF Practitioner.
  • Reports immediately any unusual, questionable, or suspicious activity to the SQF Practitioner.
  • Participates in and ensures health and sanitation for all TeamMates by using the proper disinfecting cleaners on any human contact surface such as tables, counters, appliances, phones, bathroom fixtures and surfaces.
  • Collects recyclable materials (excluding manufactured plastic products from Whirley), such as copy paper, computer paper, magazines, soda cans, soda bottles, glass, tin cans, and broken pallet debris, as required daily.
  • Cleans and disinfects the restroom surfaces daily in accordance with the established procedures.
  • Collects and disposes of biohazard materials from restrooms and First Aid rooms by established procedures. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and training is mandatory.
  • Responds to blood borne pathogen clean-up of any area of the facility where a First Responder or supervisor requests to have blood or any other potentially infectious materials removed.
  • Cleans and disinfects the breakroom surfaces daily in accordance with the established procedures.
  • Collects and properly disposes of trash and debris in accordance with the established procedures.
  • Replenishes supplies in restrooms and offices as needed or requested and per established procedures.
  • Runs and maintains floor scrubber – floor cleaning per set schedule.
  • Keeps facility clean of all cobweb and dust.
  • Must be able to work different hours for floor waxing or do extra duties such as painting, carpet shampooing, etc.
  • Reports general building maintenance-related issues to the Maintenance Department or the Housekeeping Coordinator by utilizing the voicemail system, Job Request forms or direct communication with the Good Idea Coordinator/Housekeeping Supervisor.
  • Cleans the Whirley coffee mugs, dishes & silverware daily by utilizing a dishwasher or by hand at a designated location.
  • Cleans Warehouse racking.
  • Cleans the windows that are accessible during inclement weather on a monthly basis; cleans windows that are accessible during acceptable weather on a biannual basis.
  • Vacuums the carpets, mats, and runners in all areas of responsibility on a scheduled basis.
  • Spot-cleans, when necessary, the carpeted traffic areas using dry chemical cleaner or carpet shampooer as per manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Dust and vacuums office, cubicles, fixtures and appliances as per individual’s instructions.
  • Sweeps, mops, and scrubs floor surfaces. Applies floor finishes as per manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Must be able to work overtime in emergency or special situations at the request of the SQF Practitioner.
  • Maintains a trash compactor log and notifies the SQF Practitioner when needing emptied.
  • Responsible for quality workmanship in the areas of duties.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Submits new ideas to improve safety, quality and procedural operations that will benefit the company.
  • Actively participates in departmental meetings by providing suggestions for improvement, problem solving and offering feedback.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 1-3 years housekeeping experience preferred.
  • Able to understand written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to handle tasks with minimal supervision.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged walking, carrying, and standing.
  • Lifting of up to 45 lbs.
  • Bending, crouching, stooping to reach areas to be cleaned.
  • Lifting and pulling of equipment or supplies.

VACCINATION RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Optional but highly recommended: Hepatitis B, Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis).
