JOB SUMMARY
Performs a variety of duties related to maintaining a superior level of quality products throughout the molding process and department. This includes the inspection of molded parts, packing accuracy, inspection equipment calibration and care and product control. This also includes the responsibility for maintaining a high level of communication between Quality and Manufacturing relating to product conditions and substandard issues.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
PACKING DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform production duties such as manual lifting, packaging, taping, labeling operations, and sorting.
- Move product and inventory using a Pallet Jack.
- Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the Shift Manager, Team Leader, Production Assistant or QCS
- Execute and document quality inspections in IQMS.
- Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and document SQF cleanings in IQMS.
- Follow recommended Safety Practices.
- Perform related duties as required by supervision.
- Break down cardboard for recycling.
QUALITY BACKUP DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- QA Backup: Responsible for the real time / on the floor inspections of products being produced to ensure product and process are within set standards. Responsible for the production of quality products that meet the standards / criteria set by the company and / or customers.
Representative duties include:
- Performs all scheduled mandatory inspections on all products being manufactured.
- Need to know when and how to pick-up products from various press set ups. Robots, baggers, IML, etc.....
- Conducts and records various inspections in IQMS as required utilizing specific devices dictated by product requirements.
- Knows how to access IQMS and all related Quality files for the gathering and reporting of product measurements, MRB’s, Calibrations, etc.....
- Has access to the G drive and all acceptable product deviations.
- Prepares an NCR report and communicates with the Shift Manager/ Team Leader when non conformances are found. Requests that all issues be fixed and additional parts are brought to the station for verification. Includes, flash, product respect, sizing issues, short shots, etc....
- Has knowledge of the proper TeamMates to notify when issues arise with Quality equipment.
- Performs Mold Set/ Color and Work Order change inspections and verifies parts can be released into production by completing sign off procedure in IQMS:
- Inspects thoroughly all aspects of the product’s mandatory inspections and requirements.
- Obtains and places start up product(s) samples inspected into first shot bag and stores in proper location at each press if required for the process.
- Reviews G: drive standard allowances for any conditions not meeting SPC standards and documents any discrepancies on the Sign Off.
- Communicates with the Shift Manager/ Team Leader on the shift for the next step of the sign off process.
- Initiates MRB’s in IQMS for the control of substandard or questionable products.
- Informs the Shift Manager/ Team Leader of any condition creating substandard product and requires that the issue be resolved.
- Creates an MRB in IQMS and ensures that all related products are quarantined as well. (Molding, D and A, Warehouse.)
- Identify the product by tagging the skid with proper tag information.
- Provides samples of standards for sorting events. Samples will be dated and signed and identified acceptable or not acceptable.
- Place a sample of the substandard product in the Product Validation box in the Quality area so the parts can be reviewed at the weekly Validation meeting.
- Organization:
- Must keep mobile work area and lab clean and free of obstructions.
- Must keep tools and equipment utilized for quality inspections clean and in working condition. Notify proper Quality TeamMate if issues are found.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment by sweeping the floor, picking up debris and parts.
- Must be organized and able to maintain the work area efficiently and effectively to be safe and efficient.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of product colors, material and additives preferred.
- Good physical dexterity and color discrimination
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and possess good decision-making skills.
- Must be self-motivated and possess excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to complete multiple tasks with little supervision.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Whirley – DrinkWorks! Products preferred.
- Effectively communicate information and respond to questions from various levels within the organization.
Education and Experience:
- Above average computer skills
- High School Diploma
- One to two years molding experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- May be required to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- May involve some repetitive motions.
- Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
- May also engage in frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing, and pulling of parts and part containers.
