Job Summary:
Responsible for the effective and efficient operation of all scheduled and running molding machines, both injection and blow. With the utmost attention paid to the quality of the parts being produced. Sets/ pulls molds, performs color changes and machine adjustments, attends to color and material when needed and packs presses as needed during breaks and as assigned when needed.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Mold Sets: Sets molds as requested, ensuring that the press / molds are running as efficiently as possible and with good quality parts. Also makes sure that the presses are SQF compliant before turning over to Production.
Representative duties include:
- Receives job assignment from the Molding Technical Manager or Shift Manager/ Team Leader.
- Removes and sets molds into machines by utilizing forklift and cranes, disconnecting and connecting electric, air, water, ejector stakes.
- Follows set guidelines for part qualification.
- Operates and monitors machines and robots until they are on cycle and running well. Completes the necessary set-up paperwork.
- Performs color changes when necessary.
- Responsible for all data related to daily activities, ensures this data is provided to the Shift Manager, Team Leader and Molding Technical Manager when needed.
- Monitors presses for proper operation and settings ensuring proper pressures and temperatures.
- Monitors and adjusts machine cycle as needed.
- Assistant: Analyzes workload and requirements, sets personal priorities based on these work requirements, Performs all tasks in a productive and efficient manner. Performs this job during absences while filling in for other TeamMates or when the workload requires more help on the production floor.
Representative duties include:
- Performs color changes, machine start-ups and shutdowns as indicated on the Production Schedule.
- Updates the Shift Manager’s log by logging any problems or important information needing to be passed on to the next shift..
- Operates, maintains, repairs and cleans all equipment, completes necessary reports such as machine repair orders (MRO).
- Analyzes and adjusts presses / product as required, works with QA to ensure the products meet specifications.
- Monitors the collection and separation of all substandard products, and enters the information in IQMS for each work center.
Packing: Safely and efficiently moves product from the molding machine to the box. Performs this job during absences while filling in for other TeamMates or when the workload requires more help on the production floor
Representative duties include:

- Performs Packer duties as needed.
- Moving product into boxes, ensuring that all parts are packed correctly.
- Follows the instructions on the work order at each work center.
- Move product and inventory using a Pallet Jack.
- Perform production duties such as manual lifting, packaging, taping, labeling operations and sorting.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and healthy work environment by sweeping floor, picking up debris and parts and follows set 5S standards on all work centers. Press cleanings are documented in IQMS once per shift.
- Report defective materials or questionable conditions on all products to the Shift Manager, Team Leader, Production Assistant or QCS.
- Periodically verifies component part quantities (parts per bag). Notifies shift Manager/ Team Leader if issues are found.
- Notifies proper TeamMates of machine problems by paging over the intercom system, radio or other means.
- Execute and document quality inspections twice per shift in IQMS.
- Follow all recommended Safety Practices and procedures.
- Perform related duties as required by supervision.
- Break down cardboard for recycling.
- Retrieves pallets, boxes, lids, and other supplies.
- Grind’s runners and rejects as required by the molding process.
- Records rejects as needed in IQMS and cleans off parts that fell on the floor.
Quality / Production: Monitors and ensures the production of quality parts.
Representative duties include:
- Performs random quality checks.
- Investigates production problems, with a goal to minimize down time and maximize the production of good quality parts.
- Ensuring that the product being produce is the best possible, given the condition of the mold / machine.
- Cooperates in the investigation of customer complaints so that root causes can be determined and eliminated.
- Completes NCRs, assists with MRB’s and MROs if repairs are needed.
Safety / Housekeeping: Ensures that all operations are performed with the utmost regard for the safety and health of all personnel.
Representative duties include:
- Complies with all SQF policies, and safety regulations, establishes good housekeeping practices.
- Responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
- Assists in the investigation of safety incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts.
- Maintains a high level of communication with shift personnel. Advises and cautions TeamMates about potential problems and dangers.
- Takes corrective actions to ensure that all equipment utilized in the Plant is free of recognized hazards.
- Operates all equipment in accordance with the manufacture’s recommendations. Helps with the training of new TeamMates, passes on information related to the safe and proper use of the equipment.
Material Handling: Performs a variety of duties related to maintaining material, regrind and color levels through-out the molding department. This includes the scanning and transfer of materials such as resin, molded parts, and empty boxes. Performs this job during absences while filling in for other TeamMates or when the workload requires more help on the production floor
Representative duties include:
- Material Handling: Rotation with other Production Assistants: Ensures that the correct material, color and additives are being used for each product being produced, and that the presses do not run out of material or color.
- Must be organized and able to efficiently and effectively maintain the material and color levels throughout the department.
- Start of shift inspection and verification of all color and material being used.
- Checks and empties all grinders and Dust dogs using the material when possible, storing the material in barrels or Gaylord’s as needed. Ensuring that the barrels and Gaylord’s are labeled properly.
- Cleans filters by utilizing the air hoses in the cleaning station.
- Maintains the lot number accuracy for all of the colors on the floor and any virgin materials in gaylords as well.
- Responsible for the movement of materials though out the mold department.
- Performs daily safety/maintenance inspections on all material handling walk-rides and forklifts.
- Performs daily inspection of the warehouse and mezzanine.
- Trained in Scanning and moving items in IQMS.
Other:
Representative duties include:
- Participates in plant shutdowns and plant startups by starting all air compressors, water towers, water chillers and presses.
- Monitors the proper use and storage of all regrind including all regrind paperwork.
- Monitors Packers to ensure proper packing procedures are being performed.

- Industrial Equipment operation – Fork lift, walk/ ride, Genie Boom, etc preferred.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Full understanding of Company Safety Standards.
- Comprehensive knowledge of basic software, such as Word and Excel as well as demonstrated mechanical ability.
- The ability to meet the physical demands of the job, such as standing up for long hours and lifting heavy loads occasionally.
- Working well within a team.
- Ability to multitask with little supervision.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Physical Requirements:
- Climbing of stairs and ladders. Bending, crouching, and squatting.
- Pushing, pulling, lifting and lowering workloads of up to 45lbs.
- Reaching above shoulder height.
- Must wear steel-toed shoes.
